The Guild will hold its first Tour and Tea with the Academy Docents on November 13
from 2 PM until 4 PM. The Docent led tour will feature the exhibit Literai Modern,
a collection of Japanese “hanging scrolls, large screens, handscrolls, and
intimate albums.” ( you can get details off of the
Academy web site.). The tea will
follow immediately in the Café with an assortment of treats provided by Guild members.
Please watch you email for requests for volunteers to assist with this interesting and
fun afternoon. Kimi Matar will be the co-ordinator for this tour.
The invitation will be emailed to Guild members and Docents by the end of September.

OSSIPOFF HOUSE TOURS
The Academy Guild was pleased to
present three tours of houses designed by Vladimir Ossipoff. All three tours visited the same three houses, the Lewis House,
the Goodsill House and the Lilijestrand House.
Bob Lilijestrand, an architect, led the tour of his family's house, Peter Lewis
and son Geoff, alternately led the tour of Peter and Mary Lou Lewis' house and
Stephen Little led the tour of the Goodsill House. The tours were open to
Academy Guild members, Honolulu Academy of Arts Trustees and Honolulu Academy of
Arts Docents.
The tours were organized by Jill MacMillan and Gloria Henderson.

March 16, 2006 – “Life in the Pacific of the 1700s”
may well be the highlight show of the year. Never
before (or at least recently) seen in Hawaii artifacts
collected during the time of Captain Cook will be
brought from Europe for this much-awaited exhibit. An
evening event with a lecture by Director Stephen
