November 19 - Hokusai Tour

The Academy Guild invites you to a special tour of Hokusai's Summit:  Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji with Director Stephen Little.  This special exhibtion will present the entire "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" by Katsushika Hokusai. Fragile and sensitive to fading, many of the prints in this series are among the Academy's rarest and most precious works and are placed on public display only infrequently.

November 22, 2009 -  Nordstrom Holiday Shopping Event

Start your holiday shopping early at this exclusive event for Guild members and their guests.

• Sunday, November 22, 2009
• 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
• Light refreshments and cocktails will be served
• Holiday gift suggestions and demonstrations in various departments
• Bring a friend who is interested in joining the Guild

Sunday evening, November 22nd, Guild members and guests will be able to enjoy an exclusive night of shopping at Nordstroms. 5 volunteers are needed that evening from 6:45 till 9 p.m. Two people will check-in as attendees enter; two people will man the membership table for those who are interested in joining the Guild. One volunteer will serve as a relief person, so that all volunteers will have time to enjoy the event.

followed by lunch at the Pavilion Café at 11:30 am.

TOUR & TEA with Academy Docents - 2008

The Guild held its Tour and Tea with the Academy Docents on November 13 from 2 PM until 4 PM. The Docent led tour featured the exhibit Literai Modern, a collection of Japanese “hanging scrolls, large screens, handscrolls, and intimate albums.” The tea followed in the Café with an assortment of treats provided by Guild members. Volunteers assisted with this interesting and fun afternoon. Kimi Matar was the co-ordinator for this tour. CLICK HERE FOR A PHOTO ALBUM OF THE TOUR.

In keeping with the GUILD GOES GREEN this year, the invitation was emailed to Guild members and Docents at the end of September.  Space was limited to 50 guests.
